BLIMPIE® New Restaurant Design Facts & Details
A new, vibrant restaurant design is key to the re-invigorated BLIMPIE® brand, transforming BLIMPIE from its heritage as a traditional neighborhood sub shop to a more consumer-driven, contemporary deli. BLIMPIE engaged Atlanta-based retail store design firm Miller Zell, Inc. to help them redefine the in-restaurant dining experience for its customers while reinforcing its Real. Fresh. Taste.™ marketplace positioning.
DESIGN ELEMENTS:
- The new upscale décor design incorporates three "visual levels" within each restaurant:
- The lower level - from floor to counter height - features a warm look with light cherry hardwood laminate flooring, modern earth-toned and textured tiles, wainscoting, black granite-look tabletops and accents of fresh food graphics. A mix of booth, table and large community gathering seating arrangements will be used to reflect the contemporary deli feel.
- The middle level - from counter height to eye-level - features tan and off-white colors as a simple backdrop for colorful promotional posters and 4-foot square framed lifestyle photos of people enjoying delicious BLIMPIE fare.
- The upper level - from eye-level to ceiling - features bright, vertically hung banners with words and images representing the four dayparts (breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner) that BLIMPIE serves. Directional signs create natural separation, and sophisticated pendant lighting highlights tables.
- The entire look uses sweeping, curved design details to recall the shape of a BLIMPIE sandwich and the refreshed BLIMPIE logo
- The new design incorporates a fresh bread display, highlighting the seven loaf choices available at BLIMPIE
DESIGN FACTS:
- All BLIMPIE restaurants, which include freestanding, drive-thru, convenience store, colleges/universities, hospital and Wal-Mart locations, will incorporate varying levels of the new design elements throughout 2005 and 2006
- Elements can be seen in the latest BLIMPIE Wal-Mart restaurant location in Pineville, Mo.
- First conversion steps for franchisees include new paint colors and new graphics, including the refreshed BLIMPIE logo
- Newly constructed and fully renovated BLIMPIE restaurants will increase in size by approximately 400 square feet
- New Wal-Mart locations will seat approximately 40 customers
